Dr. Downing provided information about fronto-temporal, Lewy body, vascular, Alzheimer's-Type, and "mixed" dementias. This included their features/presentations and treatment options. Additionally, he focused on prevention. He also posed a number of thought provoking questions for general discussion including, "How valuable is specific dementia diagnosis when limited treatment is available?" "How important is continuing dementia medications when the patient is institutionalized?" and "What strategies might work to encourage dementia assessment when the patient doesn't think they have a problem (anosognosia)?"
We are very grateful for his expertise and his willingness to share this time with us. Video of presentation is below.
